About our company

My name is Debra Singleton and I am the pioneer and proprietor of Debbie's Reins and Things. We have provided the highest quality leather, equine supplies and apparel and motorcycle apparel to New York City riders since 1999. We are the largest women owned, black owned business of this type in New York. Prior to realizing my dream and opening my first store (which has expanded to two locations in 2006), I was a manager in corporate America, but remained a lifelong cowgirl at heart.

 

Through our many years of association with The Federation of Black Cowboys we have been blessed to have presented Rodeos, Gymkhana Events, barn tours, lectures and riding lessons. We have participated in "Stop the Violence" marches, "Night out on Crime" watches and hosted Easter egg hunts for the community's children. We have preformed for our community's mentally and physically challenged and visited and lectured at many schools.

 

As a result of our love of horses and youth, the Reach Back Program was developed. The Reach Back Program will provide another option to deter our youth from violence and gang activities.

The Reach Back Program will consist of four units;

 

  • Unit 1: Riding program for troubled/remanded youths.
  • Unit 2: Riding program for disabled/physically challenged youths.
  • Unit 3: Internship for Social Worker and Veterinarian science.
  • Unit 4: Trade skills training (electricity, carpentry, culinary, plumbing, etc) and Year round camp.*

    • *This camp will be built and operated by the students.

    We carry riding safety gear; helmets, air bag jackets, shin guards and more.

    For Your Equine health and grooming aids, we carry a wide assortment of items, such as- combs, brushes, sponges, sweat scrappers, vetrap (Vet Rap - assorted colors), just to name a few.

    We carry a full line of tack - saddles, bridles, bits, muzzles, reins, pads, and more.

    We also provide Stall/Stable maintenance products.

    We don't just stop at western wear, we also carry motorcycle apparel such as - leather jackets and chaps, bandanas, skull caps, gloves, boots, ladies leather shorts, skirts and bustier and air bag jackets and leather care products.

    We also carry gifts and novelties - soy candles, pot holders, place mats, knap sacks, purses, key chains and western theme statues.
